I'm a big fan of animated sites, especially if the company involved is a web-agency. Web agencies are the classic example of people creating for themselves, which is the biggest challenge to have.
Your own site has to be everything you want for your clients and demonstrate what your ability is.
Chilli did a good job: they posted two versions of their site, a Flash and a Flex version!
They've created smooth animations, to browse their news page, their portfolio, and other pages of interest.
Especially their portfolio shows what they are up to and gives a good indication to a prospect of what they can expect from style and quality.

The full site is in Dutch though, which enforces my own thoughts that for communicating to potential customers you have to address them in their native tongue.
