Design of the Week: XXODD.nl

When you're looking for an online computershop, you run into sites that just don't get the mixture of marketing, design and simple technology.

I was browsing the web looking for ways a computershop is built, for a new client of Out of Site, when the client himself pointed out this site. It's typical that a client always knows his market the best. I get clients regularly that have 2 or 3 sites in their mind, which they want me to "inspire" on. This was one of those sites, and a case where I was actually very impressed. Read on...

The site offers really nice graphics, they have a brand that performs well on screen and they know who to position it throughout the site, with nice, simple mouseovers and desktop downloads, so you can bring the atmosphere to your own desktop.

What I like specifically as well is that they use consistent typography and style, it's all glossy and sleek from start to finish, and they didn't leave out any details in the rush of getting the site done.

Another nice feature (moving away from design): the Netherlands has soccer for it's main sport. As small a country as it is, there are quite a lot of soccer teams, which XXODD.NL has marketed to nicely by creating a soccer-team laptop, available at the fan-shops of these teams:

My conclusion of this site: they differentiate themselves from the competition by delivering a product that's basically the same at every webshop, but with a graphical presentation that makes you want to have the product.
